Anna Jaffe
I am a Senior Data Scientist at Stripe, primarily working on models for loss estimation. Previously, I was also a Data Scientist Intern at Stripe.
From 2017-2022, I completed my PhD in Neuroscience in the Harvey Lab at Harvard Medical School, where I was supported by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and an NIH NRSA F31 Predoctoral Fellowship. My main project focused on using two-photon optogenetics and calcium imaging to probe functional microcircuit architecture in mouse visual cortex. I developed new methodological techniques and analyses of large-scale data to understand how neurons causally influence each other and which features of their activity and tuning properties contribute. My dissertation can be read here.
In 2017, I received my undergraduate degree in Bioengineering from Stanford University. I conducted neuroscience research in the Deisseroth Lab on CLARITY, circuit-level mechanisms in memory encoding and retrieval, CRISPR, and multisensory virtual reality systems.
In my free time, I enjoy cycling and running, reading, going to museums, finding new food spots, cooking and (occasionally) baking, and attending local music concerts of various genres (funk/metal/classical/you name it). I've most recently played trumpet with the Brookline Symphony Orchestra, and before that, I played in the Dudley Orchestra and Longwood Symphony Orchestra while in Boston. During undergrad, I was in the Stanford Symphony Orchestra.
